While hiking Mt. Lincoln the weekend before with Lisa and Amy, we spotted Wheeler Lake in the valley below and thought it would be fun to explore. Wheeler Lake is a small alpine lake tucked in the valley between North Star Mountain and Mt. Lincoln/Mt. Democrat. The trail is an extreme 4-wheel drive road (seriously...boulders about 2-3 feet tall along the trail) that climbs about 1500 ft over 3.5 miles. Along the hike, we could see dozens of hikers 2000 feet above us on Mt. Democrat and Mt. Lincoln.
