Tabeguache Peak (14,155 ft) and Mt. Shavano (14,229 ft)
Tabeguache Peak is a tad elusive. It's located on a connecting ridge to Mt. Shavano, and there's no real good way to reach it other than by going up and over Shavano (and returning the same way). In 2005, Lisa and I tried to summit both but were turned back by weather. In 2008, we tried again from a different direction but retreated due to weather. Third time's a charm. Starting insanely early, we reach Shavano's summit, descended into the saddle, ascended Tabaguache, descended back into the saddle, re-ascended Shavano, and finally claimed victory. Tabeguache was Brian's 30th 14er climbed (out of 53 in the state) and now he's climbed all of the 14ers in the Front Range, Ten Mile/Mosquito Range, and Sawatch Range.

Tabeguache calls like a siren across the ridge...a siren begging you to walk another 1 miles, drop 600 feet, regain 500 feet, then retrace your steps back over Shavano
