Desert Botanic Gardens (November 2007)

Benches were plentiful throughout the garden and came in many different forms.

A unique hand rail made from smooth stones.

A "discovery node" with shade, benches and a cart for materials.

A Discovery Cart - an empty cart was at each of the stations on the trail.

A series of chairs in a semi-circle that could be use to talk with a group or for general seating.

A self-guided activiity station- Pounding mesquite beans. The bans are in the jar on the left and there are two pouning stations. Directions are on the lid of the jar.

Benches were plentiful in shade and sun. Many benches in this area were in conjunction with a discovery cart.

There should have been agave fibers on the cross pole below the sign so you could practice making rope.

An interactive that allowed you to smell wet mesquite and experience the smell of a wet desert.

Spotting scopes that focused your eyes on specific cacti features. The scopes are tubes that do not magnify, but focus your eyes on something in the distance.

A hand lens shape that encourage guests to look at a specific feature explained in the sign.

Another rock hand rail, this time with animal tracks and patterns.

You could place your camera on the platform and set to timer mode so you could easily capture the picture.
